“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” – Barack Obama
Alette Liz Williams is a 4th
year Mass Communication student who hails from Princes Town. She transferred
from IT (Operating Systems Management) because she believes that people are her
passion. She has always been grounded in
customer service and believes in serving
and service, having been in
the profession of customer service for just about 8 years. Alette is currently
employed in the Judiciary as a Court Customer Service Representative, attached
to the Court Protocol and Information Unit.
Alette is a passionate,
multifaceted individual. A singer and actress, she is a strong advocate for the
Arts. She has traveled to Cuba for the Festival of Fire in 2011, where Trinidad
and Tobago was honored, and to Suriname for Carifesta with National Dance
Association. She is currently the PRO for both the National Dance Association
of Trinidad & Tobago and also for the Iere Theatre Productions Ltd. Iere
Theatre Productions is a young and vibrant group that focuses on local history
and has done such works like Eric the Musical, The Reenactment of Indian
Arrival Day on Nelson Island, Temple in the Sea and the now highly acclaimed
theatre production, A Brighter Sun.
Alette has also been involved in
The Trinidad and Tobago Youth Council, the Inter School Christian Fellowship
(ISCF). She was also a part of the victorious COSTAATT South Campus Debate Team
last year, serving not just as an active participant, but as the Opening
Speaker. She also works for the Forward Ever Foundation: an organization which
provides free workshops to young people between the ages of 10 and 25 who are
interested in making a change in the film industry locally.
Alette believes that professionalism
is a must, problem solving is a mandate and that communication is key, which is
echoed in her approachable, lovable, hard-working nature. She may have a hefty
plate but she is a committed individual who seeks greatness for herself and for
Trinidadians as a whole.
"I
am a firm believer that the very essence of bringing a vision into reality
means that a true leader must be willing to serve his/her fellow man. As the
Evening Vice President, it is simply my intention to enable my fellow students
to have a fair, balanced and unbiased representation in an executive capacity. I
will strive to always work with my council to address the concerns and needs of
those who have entrusted us with such an honourable mandate. With a background
in customer service and communications, I believe that the qualities gained
will serve to be an asset, both to the council I am a part of and for the
student population. We must always strive to be the change we want to see. I
believe in my competent and dynamic team and I believe in our vision, but most
of all, I believe that we can and will humbly and effectively serve our student
body to the best of our ability." -- Alette Liz Williams
